Portugal becomes the first country in Europe to win the award of Tourism Oscar. Portugal was nominated “Best World’s Destination” at the 24th edition of the Travel Awards of the World. Portugal is succeeded in defeating its competitors such as Spain, Vietnam, Morocco, USA, Maldives, Greece, and Brazil after the collection of sex highest awards.
Madeira Island won “World’s best island destination”, while Lisbon won “World’s Best City Break Destination”. Other advanced destinations involve World’s Best Luxury Leisure Resort, World’s Best Conservation Company, World’s Best Tourism Authority, and World’s Best Tourist Board.
Among the chief destinations, Portugal awarded Best Tourism Development Project, Best Insular Destination, Best Cruise Port, Best Destination for City Break and Best European Tourist Destination. In Madeira, the ceremony of awards took place. For receiving the award of best European destination, Portugal won from Turkey, Switzerland, Sweden, Spain, Norway, Italy, Greece, Germany, France, England, and Austria.

Maderia was announced at the World Travel Awards as the “Europe’s Best island destination” for the 6th time.
The Portuguese self-directed place has already been won in 2018, 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014, and 2013. Sardinia, Crete, Malta, and the Canaries were the nominees in this category. After an online poll of tourism experts and the public, the awards were bestowed.
